Image
Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has issued an unreserved apology to everyone at Kaizer Chiefs for his reaction at being substituted during Wednesday’s game between Chiefs and Lamontville Golden Arrows in KwaMashu. “I would like to sincerely apologise to coach Arthur Zwane, coach Dillon Sheppard, coach Lee Baxter, my teammates,  Kaizer Chiefs management and all Amakhosi supporters for not shaking the coach’s hand and for the outburst that followed after being taken off.  I take full responsibility for my actions and such should not be repeated.” The player was remorseful after cooling down and realising how bad his actions were. He also saw the reaction that followed in the news and social media. “I am not proud of what I did,” adds Ngcobo. “It was a heat of the moment thing because I made some costly mistakes during the match and it’s not nice knowing that you’ve let the team down as a player, but that does not justify any of my actions. I promise to do better in the future.”  Am

Zwane: Njabulo Was A Bit Upset At Himself

Image
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach has committed on the incident that occurred between Njabulo Ngcobo and Lee Baxter.  Amakhosi have been winless in four matches and dropped to fifth position. Wednesday, defeat against Golden Arrows will be a hard pill to swallow after Njabulo Ngcobo pass the ball to Sbonelo Conco who scored the equalizer for Abafana Bes'thende. Ngcobo who’s known as “Roadblock” was then substituted later for Daniel Cardoso. The defender of the season clashed with goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter. However, Zwane called for calm in their run of three successive league defeats, stating the defender will learn from his mistake and that his behaviour was a result of being upset with himself. “I believe Njabulo was a bit upset at himself that he gave the ball away in the wrong areas and we were punished, I don’t view it as other people may seem to be something that is bad,” Zwane said after the game. “I was a player myself so maybe he was upset, I believe he was upset at himself

Report: KZN Derby End In Goalless Stalemate.

Image
Royal AM and AmaZulu played a goalless draw in Kwa-Zulu Natal derby at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday. Both teams had opportunities in the first half but neither goalkeeper was really tested. When the shot-stoppers were required to make interventions, it was not difficult saves for shot-stoppers. Royal AM were unlucky to not be awarded a penalty early in the second half after Philani Zulu was guilty of fouling Mokete Mogaila with his elbow though the referees clearly missed seeing this. Just two minutes later, Mogaila came close to scoring after being played in by the in-form Mxolisi Macuphu. The entertainment of the game was in the second half. Royal AM certainly would have felt that they could have won the game if they were more clinical in the final third. AmaZulu were mainly defending in the second half with Royal AM goalkeeper Patrick Nyame having only made a single save in the second half. Royal AM’s next game is a challenging Nedbank Cup semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundown

The Pretoria side came from behind in a crucial match against third place JDR Stars.   The 25th minutes goal from Tshepo Mashigo was not enough to give the visitors a much needed victory after  Luvuyo Phewa  equalised in the 87th minutes. Both teams are left now with three games to end 2021/22 GladAfrica Championships season.  “JDR Stars is not an easy team, since they have been promoted to the NFD they have been competing for promotion to the PSL and I am not surprised that the game went this way.” said the coach of AmaTuks  Tlisane Motaung  after the match. “Credit must go to the boys for sticking to the game plan, we missed numerous chances where we should have converted but football is like that and sometimes things don’t go your way. “We brought Phewa  as an affect player and he did it for us

DStv premiership relegation battle.

Image
DStv Premiership will return to action on weekend as teams at relegation zone are looking to retain their statuses at top division next season.  Mathematically it’s unclear which team will play in the GladAfrica championship next season even though Baroka are sitting in 16th position. There’s no much difference in points between Chippa United, Maritzburg United, TS Galaxy, Swallows FC and Baroka with five matches to go before the end of the season.  On Saturday, TS Galaxy will meet Maritzburg United at Mbobela Stadium. The two teams have one point difference, however the stalemate will not be enough for both teams as they look to get out of relegation zone.  The bottom two Swallows FC and Baroka will have to battle out at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, afternoon. A draw will not change the log standing between the two clubs. Swallows are ahead of Baroka with two points.

Baxter respond to Chiefs fans

Image
Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has responded to fans who want him to step down as the head coach after the defeat of Supersport United at FNB stadium.  On Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs played in front of their fans for the first time since 2020 due to Covid-19 lockdown regulations but, the results didn’t go their way. Fans were left frustrated after Amakhosi dominated the match but failed to score goals at their home ground. After the match Chiefs fans didn’t waste time on booing Baxter who lost his sixth league match since his second spell at the club. However, Baxter made a bold statement that he’s the only coach who has given the club a success in the last 20 years.  “I’m the only coach that has given this club any success in the last 20 years, but I’ve got to go because we dominate the game and lose 1 - 0? I’ve got to listen to that? It’s okay, they’re fans, they have the right to say exactly what they want,” he said. The Glamour boys will finish another season without a trophy, but

Matthews: Sipho Mbule will not play for SuperSport again

Image
Supersport United CEO Stan Matthews has explained why the club has suspended attacking midfielder Sipho Mbule and insisted that the midfielder will not play for Matsatsantsa again.  Sipho Mbule has been suspended by the club since early April and things seems like he’ll leave the club at the end of the season. Matthews has now reiterated his stance on Mbule, saying the midfielder is not in the right space to help the team. “He can’t refuse to sign a contract, Sipho is in a contract,” Matthews told Thabiso Mosia on MetroFMSport. “He still has a couple of years left in his contract with SuperSport, so there is no choice about that. “Sipho has been excused from training. His head space isn’t right to come and be with the team, he hasn’t been reliable – not to himself and not to his teammates. “We’d rather play without Sipho and finish a couple of places lower in the league as a team that is unified, a team that is disciplined, a team that works for each other and respects each other.
