Matthews: Sipho Mbule will not play for SuperSport again
Supersport United CEO Stan Matthews has explained why the club has suspended attacking midfielder Sipho Mbule and insisted that the midfielder will not play for Matsatsantsa again.
Sipho Mbule has been suspended by the club since early April and things seems like he’ll leave the club at the end of the season. Matthews has now reiterated his stance on Mbule, saying the midfielder is not in the right space to help the team.
“He can’t refuse to sign a contract, Sipho is in a contract,” Matthews told Thabiso Mosia on MetroFMSport.
“He still has a couple of years left in his contract with SuperSport, so there is no choice about that.
“Sipho has been excused from training. His head space isn’t right to come and be with the team, he hasn’t been reliable – not to himself and not to his teammates.
“We’d rather play without Sipho and finish a couple of places lower in the league as a team that is unified, a team that is disciplined, a team that works for each other and respects each other.
When asked whether Mbule is trying to force a move, Matthews admitted that the midfielder will not play for the club again.
“That could very well be and he’s not going to be playing for our club again,” he added.
