Machaka hope Chiefs keep Billiat
With few matches left before 2022/23 DStv Premiership season end, Kaizer Chiefs popular fan Machaka Mashilo is hoping Amakhosi will not release the Zimbabwean born Khama Billiat at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old joined the Soweto Giants in 2018 on a free transfer after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns. Billiat contract with Chiefs will expire at the end of the current season. With no indications of whether Amakhosi will extend Billiat contract or not the former Ajax Cape Town player is free to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice according to FIFA rules.
Kaizer Chiefs faithful supporter Machaka Masilo hope Amakhosi will extend Billiat contract further despite not playing a lot of matches for Chiefs this season. Machaka believes Billiat has a lot to offer at Kaizer Chiefs.
“We still need Khama, he’s a good player [and] he won champions league with Sundowns. He came to Kaizer Chiefs he couldn’t produce the results he produced when he was at Sundowns,” says Machaka in an exclusive interview.
“But I still believe in him I still hope he has much to offer in Naturena [a place where Kaizer Chiefs is based].
Billiat has been struggling with a game time due to injuries this season but he recently returned to Amakhosi training ground. The Kaizer Chiefs forward made eleven appearances in all competitions for his club this season. Amakhosi head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that Billiat might be available for the last three or four games of the season.
“He’s been disturbed by injuries [but] injuries are part of the game. Anybody can get injury but that doesn’t mean a good player like him because of injuries we must let him go. He must remain at Kaizer Chiefs maybe one or two seasons [and] let’s see what can offer,” Machaka added.
“If you check at Kaizer Chiefs strikers who’s better than Khama? Hopefully the management will make the right decision to make sure we Khama next season and the season after as well.”
Kaizer Chiefs has begun their preparation for next season with three signings already been confirmed. Again, the addition of Christian Saile could lead to Khama Billiat not playing his football at Kaizer Chiefs next season. Saile has been one of the regular starters for Zwane’s team since he joined the Glamour Boys.
Furthermore, Amakhosi are linked with Cape Town Spurs attacker Ashley Cupido who play similar position to Khama Billiat. Cupido has scored 14-goals in 25 matches of Motsepe Foundation Championship.
