Netherlands beat Banyana in a friendly match.

 


Banyana Banyana started their preparations for the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations with a 5 - 1 loss against Netherlands in a friendly match at the Kyocera Stadium in The Hague, Netherlands, on Tuesday night.


Atletico Madrid striker Thembi Kgatlana was the captain of Banyana due to the absence of injured AC Milan midfielder Refiloe Jane. 


The Dutch Jackie Groeman opened the scoresheet in the 12th minutes of the match with a beautiful strike that hit the crossbar before rattling the back of the net. 


Soon after, Thembi Kgatlana gave her team a glimmer of hope with a cool finish that were the bottom right corner, however, the hosts were too strong as Lineth Beerensteyn and Vivianne Miedema    made it 3 - 1 for Leeuwinnen at first half.



South Africa had a chance to comeback early in the second after their experienced defender Noku Matlou miss a penalty.


Netherlands 3 - 1 lead was not enough as they extended their lead with brace from Damaris Egurrola in the final 15 minutes of the match.

Royal AM Beats Chiefs On Macufe Cup

  Royal AM have won Macufe Cup on their first appearance after beating defending champions Kaizer Chiefs 4-2 on penalties at Free State stadium.  The Glamour Boys has won this cup seven times since it begun in 2004, where they faced Bloemfontein Celtics in many occasions.   Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic made his first appearance for Royal AM this afternoon after suffering a long injury.  Author Zwane also gave the development graduate Wandile Duba a first start for the Soweto giants upfront partnering with Keagan Dolly and Happy Mashiane. Both teams didn’t create enough goal scoring opportunities in the first half of the match. With Royal AM enjoying ball possession most part of the first half. Royal AM found the opening goal from    Ruzaigh Gamildien at the 83 minutes of the match after they beat offside trap from Chiefs. No Qatar 2022 for Bafana

  South Africa will not compete to next year world cup that’s taking place in Qatar. The defeat against Ghana at Cape Coast Sports stadium has left Bafana Bafana in a swallow pill to sour. Andre Ayew who played his 100 th match today for the Black stars has converted the soft penalty against Hugo Broos troops which became the only goal for the day. It remains to be seen whether South Africa will write a letter of complain to CAF and FIFA regarding the decision that was taken by the Senegalese born Maguette Ndiaye.  Both teams finished the group G with same number of points and goal difference, but the Ghanaians will go to the play offs after scoring more goals than Bafana Bafana in the group. The last time Bafana Bafana played in a world cup it was eleven years ago when they were hosting it for the first time in time in African soil. Hugo Broos team will now have to wait for few years before they can participate on other qualifications such as Africa Cup of Nations.
