ODG join Babina Noko as the co-coach

 


Former TS Galaxy Owen Da Gama has joined Sekhukhune United as the co-coach.


Owen Da Gama will be working alongside Sekhukhune United FC Head coach, MacDonald Makhubedu for the remainder of the 2021/22 DSTV Premiership campaign. 


The Volksrust born he previously managed Dynamos, HP Silver Stars, PSM Parkhurst, Orlando Pirates, Free State Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, Platinum Stars, South Africa Under 23 team, South Africa National Team (Assistant Coach), Highlands Park as well as TS Galaxy.  


The Rubber Doll as he is affectionally known started his coaching career at Dynamos in Thohoyandou that participated in the First Division. He led Silver Stars to victory in the 2006 Telkom Knockout Cup after defeating Ajax Cape Town.  In the 2006/07 season, Silver Stars (Platinum Stars) finished 2nd in the league and managed to achieve a place in the 2008 CAF Champions League.


Sekhukhune United FC Chairman Simon Malatji said “Da Gama has been part of South African football history for many years and has also won Telkom Knockout Cup in 2006. As Sekhukhune United we were particularly keen to appoint South African coaches and express our commitment and confidence in the talent and ability of our local coaches.”


Sekhukhune United are currently in tenth position with five games to go before the end of 2021/2022 season.

Royal AM Beats Chiefs On Macufe Cup

  Royal AM have won Macufe Cup on their first appearance after beating defending champions Kaizer Chiefs 4-2 on penalties at Free State stadium.  The Glamour Boys has won this cup seven times since it begun in 2004, where they faced Bloemfontein Celtics in many occasions.   Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic made his first appearance for Royal AM this afternoon after suffering a long injury.  Author Zwane also gave the development graduate Wandile Duba a first start for the Soweto giants upfront partnering with Keagan Dolly and Happy Mashiane. Both teams didn’t create enough goal scoring opportunities in the first half of the match. With Royal AM enjoying ball possession most part of the first half. Royal AM found the opening goal from    Ruzaigh Gamildien at the 83 minutes of the match after they beat offside trap from Chiefs. No Qatar 2022 for Bafana

  South Africa will not compete to next year world cup that’s taking place in Qatar. The defeat against Ghana at Cape Coast Sports stadium has left Bafana Bafana in a swallow pill to sour. Andre Ayew who played his 100 th match today for the Black stars has converted the soft penalty against Hugo Broos troops which became the only goal for the day. It remains to be seen whether South Africa will write a letter of complain to CAF and FIFA regarding the decision that was taken by the Senegalese born Maguette Ndiaye.  Both teams finished the group G with same number of points and goal difference, but the Ghanaians will go to the play offs after scoring more goals than Bafana Bafana in the group. The last time Bafana Bafana played in a world cup it was eleven years ago when they were hosting it for the first time in time in African soil. Hugo Broos team will now have to wait for few years before they can participate on other qualifications such as Africa Cup of Nations.
