Sundowns extend their log standing with 14 points lead.

Mamelodi Sundowns have extended their DStv Premiership log standing with 14 points after beating Golden Arrows 6 - 0 at Loftus Versfeld, Tuesday afternoon.

The Brazilians have started with a strong energy against Golden Arrows and scored three goals in 30 minutes in the first half.

With five games remaining for Masandawana only need seven points before they can be crowned the DStv Premiership champions, while they also have the Nedbank Cup and Champions League still up for grabs.

Man of the match Peter Shalulile scored a second consecutive hat-trick. The Namibian international took his league tally to 21 goals in the 2021/22 campaign.

Shalulile is the first player after a decade to score more than 21 goals in a single season, after Siyabonga Nomvethe netted 20 goals for Swallows in 2010/11.

On the other hand, Gaston Sirino, Pavol Safranko and Romeo Erasmus also added their names to the scoresheet.

Sundowns have a 14-point lead over Royal AM, who have a game in hand, while third place Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are 18-point behind the log leaders, but Chiefs have three games in the pocket.
