Confirmed:Danny Jordaan re-elected for third term.

  South Africa Football Association president Danny Jordan has been re-elected as SAFA president for the third term. Jordan received a total of 186 votes, while his competitor Ria Ledwaba managed to get 27 votes and Tshwane regional president Solly Mohlabeng only received eight votes. The Elective Congress were held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday. Jordan who’s turning 71-years-old in September has been SAFA president since 2013 replacing Kirsten Nematandani.  On the other hand, the new SAFA vice president is yet to be confirmed, while the National Executive Committee members are also expected to be confirmed.

Official: Pirates appoint a new coach

  Orlando Pirates has appointed Jose Riveiro as the new head coach for next season.  According to Orlando Pirates website the 46-year-old Spanish born, will join Pirates squad for preseason once all the relevant documents are processed. “First of all, I would like to send a greeting to all the fans of Orlando Pirates. I am delighted to have joined the club. The Pirates project is an exciting one and I look forward to what lies ahead. Pirates release two players and goalkeeper coach

  Orlando Pirates has continue to release some players and goalkeeper coach ahead of the 2022/2023 season. Linda Mntambo, Ntsikelelo Nyauza and goalkeeper Sjoerd Woudenberg are the latest to leave the Buccaneers camp.  According to Orlando Pirates website, midfielder Linda Mntambo will join Sekhukhune United next season. Mntambo who is affectionately known as “Figo” joined Pirates in 2018 having had spells at Jomo Cosmos and Chippa United. Figo made 71 appearances for Buccaneers in all competitions, scoring eight goals and registered six assists.  Meanwhile, Ntsikelelo Nyauza will also not be part of the Soweto Giants next season. Nyauza joined Pirates in 2013 and has captained Orlando Pirates on several matches.  The 32 years old have recorded 192 appearances for Buccaneers and scored seven goals with four assists.  Having released co-coach Fadlu Davids earlier this month Orlando Pirates have also released goalkeeper coach Sjoerd Woudenberg after spending one season with the club. 

Jordan: We are going to pay R9.2 million

  South Africa Football Association president Danny Jordan has made a promise of the amount of money Banyana Banyana players will receive if they win the AWCON tournament. The 2018 finalists are facing Nigeria in Group C opening match on Monday 4th. South Africa reached the final of the last AWCON edition held in Ghana in 2018 but lost 4-3 to Nigeria on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time. “We are going to pay R9.2 million ($578,000) in bonuses for this team, on the basis that they win the (Women’s) AFCON,” said Safa president Danny Jordan.  “So, if they win Afcon we will pay R9.2 million ($578,000) and if you look at the other cost in other words our investment in this team for specifically this Afcon is R10 million ($628,330),” he added.  “This is our commitment, our confidence in Banyana Banyana and let me just tell you this, R10 million is the highest-paid amount ever paid in the national team, men and women, so you have broken the barriers, you have the highest

Official: Babina Noko skipper join Amakhosi

  Despite making a mistake during national team duties earlier this month. Kaizer Chiefs have signed Yusuf Maart on a three year deal with two years option. Maart arrives from Sekhukhune FC where he spent two seasons in the GladAfrica Championship and DStv Premiership. He played a total of 29 matches in the season that has just ended and scored three goals for Babina Noko.  The midfielder’s club performance has earned him nine national team call-ups between 2021-2022, and he is now a regular in the Bafana Bafana set up.  Maart will join the team for preseason training this week.

Kaizer Chiefs release another two defenders

  Kaizer Chiefs have part ways with Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Siphosakhe Ntiya Ntiya few days before the club starts with pre-season. Mphahlele who is affectionately known as “Rama” made his debut for Chiefs in August 2016 after winning CAF Champions League with    Mamelodi Sundowns. Rama contract with Kaizer Chiefs is coming to an end in June 30 and the club opted not to renew it.  The former South Africa U20 captain has played a total of 127 matches for Soweto Giants since his arrival at Naturena. The Glamour Boys has also released Ntiya Ntiya who they promoted to the senior team in January 2018. Ntiya Ntiya has been struggling with game time since his promotion to the senior team. The 25 years old from Bizana, Eastern Cape has worked with coach Arthur Zwane in the development ranks and in the senior team.  The left back played only five matches for Chiefs last season despite the experienced S’fiso Hlanti being injured half of the season.

Amakhosi promote youngster from reserve team.

  Kaizer Chiefs has promoted one of their development product to the senior team after releasing ten players from their team at the end of the 2021/2022 season. Mduduzi Shabalala have been promoted from reserve team. Shabalala has been rewarded with a senior team contract for three years after spending the last few seasons in the reserve team. The attacking midfielder was invited to a trial at Belgian club, KVC Westerio, where he impressed. He also spent time in with Villarreal, who had taken notice of his stellar performances in the COSAFA U20 Championship. Pirates announce new faces after releasing big names.

  Orlando Pirates have confirmed new signings ahead of the 2022/23 season. The Buccaneers finished the DStv premiership in sixth place after playing their catch up games after the season ended. Bienvenu Eva Nga, Miguel Tim, Azola Matrose and Evidence Makgopa are fresh faces added to The Sea Robbers squad ahead of the new season. Last week, Pirates announced the signing of Nkosinathi Sibisi from Golden Arrows after they released Thulani Hlatshwayo who didn’t get enough game time at the club last season. On the other hand, the Soweto Giants have released Kwanda Mngonyama, Abel Mabaso, Justice Chabalala, Elson Sithole, Wayne Sandilands and Thabang Monare. Banyana Banyana mentor Desiree Ellis has announced the final 23 woman squad to represent South Africa at Africa Cup Of Nations in Morocco next month. Ellis has praised Hollywoodbets coaches for the work they have done in keeping the players fit. She further said that selecting the final squad for the tournament was a difficult task for the technical team. “I want to start off by giving a big thank to the coaches out there for the fantastic job that they have done since the leagues have started”, said Ellis. “We had a good week and a half and with many of the overseas based players joined us, many have stepped up. We had a good mix of youth and experience for the past week and half”, added Ellis at the press conference on Monday.   Furthermore, the coach also announced three players who will be on the standby, in case other players get injured or be cancelled from the selected squad. Tyson and Pirates part ways

  Orlando Pirates Football Club and Thulani Hlatshwayo jointly announce the amicable parting of ways between the two parties. Hlatshwayo arrived at the club in September 2020 after the status sale of the now-defunct Bidvest Wits as the national team captain and considered as one of the finest defenders in the DStv Premiership, having won the league with the Students under then-coach Gavin Hunt two seasons prior.     South Africa started their AFCON qualifiers with a defeat against Morocco after losing 2 - 1 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat in Group K match.  Hugo Broos troops failed to defend their first half early lead from Lyle Foster. Sipho Mbule join Sundowns

  SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns have agreed terms for the permanent move of midfielder Sipho Mbule as of effect from 1 July 2022 for an undisclosed fee.   Mbule hasn’t featured for Matsatsantsa in 2022 after not training with the team earlier these year. According to his agent Mike Makaab, the playmaker was putted to special training after he was not happy at SuperSport United. Mbule joined the club’s academy in the 2015/16 season from Virginia (Harmony) Sports Academy and played just under 100 games for Matsatsantsa. The 24 -year-old played a crucial role in helping Matsatsantsa to lift the MTN 8 trophy twice in the 2017/18 and 2019/20 seasons and contributed immensely in SuperSport United’s historic CAF Confederation Cup journey, finishing as runners-up losing narrowly to DRCs TP Mazembe in 2017.
