Results: Morocco too strong for Bafana

South Africa started their AFCON qualifiers with a defeat against Morocco after losing 2 - 1 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat in Group K match.

Hugo Broos troops failed to defend their first half early lead from Lyle Foster. Without a doubt, Bafana Bafana defensive formation didn’t stop the North African side to create chances even though they couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half.

Portugal based Siphephelo Sithole, Taariq Fielies and Phathutshedzo Nange made their first debuts tonight, while Tau and Lorch were recalled.

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Lyle Lakay struggled to deal with Hakim who added numbers upfront for his team when they attack.

But, South Africa skipper and number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams managed to keep his team in the game until En-Nesyri find the equaliser in the 51 minutes of the match.

The Atlas Lions got their winning goal from substitute Ayoub El Kaabi nine minutes before the nineteenth minutes.

Bafana Bafana next game will be against Liberia in September.
