Brazil Too Strong For Banyana
Banyana Banyana have suffered a 3 - 0 defeat in a friendly match against South Americans champions Brazil at Orlando stadium.
Banyana Banyana sat back in the opening stages of the match and observed pressure from Brazil nearly resulted in a breakthrough as Adriana de Silva headed wide at the back-post after latching onto a cross.
The visiting team kept putting pressure on Banyana and forced a point-blank save from Amanda Dlamini to parry a first-time shot from Geyse Ferreira and Kerolin most notably.
The Brazilians found the breakthrough three minutes before halftime when Geyse chest down a looping ball outside the area and volleyed in off the underside of the woodwork.
The South Americans champs capitalised from a poor defensive clearance by Bongeka Gamede with Adriana scoring the second goal for her team two minutes before halftime.
The lead gave the visitors a chance to introduce debutant Beatriz Zaneratto who replaced Deborah de Oliveira and Micaelly replaced Kerolin.
Banyana started well in the second stanza and threatened to make a comeback from few balls in and around the Brazilian defence, but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
But, Brazil managed to get the third goal from Tamires de Britto who finished off a loose ball from a clever angle whilst Banyana struggled to deal with a ball in the box.
African champs were forced to make late substitutions after goalkeeper Dlamini picked up a knock and saw Kaylin Swart enter, whilst Cesane was replaced by Thalea Smidt.
