Sundowns Co-coach applaud His Players
Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena was pleased with some of his players performance last night against SuperSport United.
Bafana Ba Style came out with a 2-0 victory over SuperSport United in a completely dominant performance at TUKS Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Brazilians had several chances from the first half, however United’s solid defense only crumbled in the second half, Coach Rulani projected his joy in a media briefing after the triumph.
“Congratulations to the entire football club and to the players for winning a very difficult match. We needed to run, we needed to stay patient, we knew that there’d be a very resolute block but we did very, very well. We played without anxiety, we gave our best which is very, very good and congratulations to the technical team on a good win, a very important win,” says Rulani Mokwena after the match.
Goals from Tom Chile international signing Marcelo Allende in the 80th minute and Ethiopian forward Abubeker Nasir in the 90th minute gave Masandawana an incredible victory.
He continued: “We could see that the movements of our fullbacks determine the positioning of their wingbacks, so if we go a little bit deeper then it’s a line of five, but if you come a bit shallower its a line of three, and then when we could do that both goals came from there.”
“Thapelo [Morena] made a double movement [when] he came shot, the ball was played behind and then it’s a line of three. The second goal is the same, [Teboho mokoena] Tebza makes the run just slightly behind because Thapelo is not so deep, and then we have possibilities to get the ball into the box. But at the end it’s the quality of the players, you don’t coach that aggression and the speed to get into the box from Marcello and from Nasir, and that’s where the goals are. The quality of the players, kudos to them and the subs were very good, they came in and took the game to a very good level because the players on the pitch were also very good.”
“Tebza was good today, Andile Jali was superb today. Peter – very good always, selfless and pressing from the top. Neo [Maema] good [but] could get a little bit more involved, [Themba Zwane] Mshishi good in between the lines, Mudau was also relatively very good, his movements and he could’ve scored today – in fact he should’ve scored, but it was a good performance all round and not just from those who started or the subs,” Mokwena concluded.
Sundowns await their fate as they wait for the MTN8 draw to be conducted on the evening of Monday, 29 August at 20H30.
