Soweto Giants And Defending Champions Progress To MTN8 Semifinals.

Record winners Kaizer Chiefs and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns progressed to the 2022 MTN8 semifinals after securing wins on Sunday.

Chiefs, who are 15-time MTN8 champions, showed character as they came from behind to defeat Stellenbosch FC 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in a quarterfinal match at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Sihle Nduli opened the scoring to hand Stellies, but Ashley du Preez scored to level matters for Amakhosi who went on to win 4-3 on penalties with Itumeleng Khune being the hero in the penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, Sundowns produced a strong second-half display in their 2-0 victory over their city rivals SuperSport United in a Tshwane Derby match which was played at the Tuks Stadium.

Masandawana's two goals were netted by Marcelo Allende and Abubeker Nasir who were both introduced in the second-half and they proved to be inspired substitutes for the DStv Premiership champions in a quarterfinal clash.

Chiefs and Sundowns joined AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates in the semifinals with the draw set to be conducted on Monday on Extra Time, which airs on SuperSport PSL channel (202) from 20h30.
