Banyana Beat WAFCON Defending Champions.
Banyana Banyana have started Women Africa Cup of Nations with a victory after beating Nigeria 2-1 at Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan Rabat, Morocco on Monday evening.
Despite not getting a goal in the first half Banyana Banyana have dominated the first 45 minutes against the defending champions. Desiree Ellis troops enjoyed the ball more than the Nigerians.
Banyana captain and AC Milan midfield maestro Refiloe Jane have bossed the midfield alongside his teammates Jermaine Seoposenwe and Linda Motlhalo.
However, Nigeria created good chances but they couldn’t convert them. Andile Dlamini made the big saves against Asisat Oshoala to keep his team in the game.
Jermaine Seoposenwe and Hildah Magaia gave Banyana a lead in the 61 and 63 minutes of the game. Furthermore, Banyana could have been three nil up but the were not clinical.
South Africa was close to get a clean sheet on their opening match until Rasheedat Ajibade scored the only goal for his country in the 93rd minute of the match.
South Africa are currently on top of Group C and they will face Burundi on Thursday.
