Broos confirm Bafana Bafana next opposition.


 

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed two opponents  that South Africa will face in March.


South Africa hasn’t play any match since they lost 1 - 0 against Black Stars in World Cup qualifiers in November 2021 last year. Hugo Broos troops are also not taking place in AFCON tournament that’s currently taking place in Cameroon recently after be beaten by Sudan. 


The 1996 Africa Cup of Nations winners will face France in March during FIFA international break. The last time these two sides met was in 2010 FIFA World Cup that was held in South Africa for the first time in history of football. Bafana Bafana became victorious in that match after beating the Les Bleus 2 - 1 in Bloemfontein.


“We are playing March against France and I think against Zambia after that,” Broos told the Sunday Times. 


“Those are the two matches to prepare us for the [2023] Afcon qualifiers in June. You are playing against the world champions. 


“Strong opposition give you proper preparation. Even if you lose the games it is not a train smash.”


The 69 years Bafana Bafana mentor has emphasised these matches as an indication of where his team is at, and the distance he has covered since his arrival to the national.


“You can learn a lot of things and get an indication of where your team is at. Immediately you will see where the weaknesses are,” he said. 


“Such games tell you the distance the team has covered. They give you something more. Maybe that is what we needed and didn’t have for the qualifiers of the World Cup. We didn’t really play tough matches.”


Even though Bafana Bafana came close to qualify for the next round of the World Cup qualifiers. Hugo Broos mandate is to qualify for the next Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup. These two friendly matches will give Bafana Bafana  opportunity to observe how readiness they are for the next qualifications.


The Belgian born coach only lost one match out of seven games he took over since he was announced as the new head coach of Bafana Bafana in 05 May 2021.

  Bafana Bafana have continued to lead the World cup qualifying group G table after beating Zimbabwe 1 – 0 at FNB stadium. Royal AM Beats Chiefs On Macufe Cup

  Royal AM have won Macufe Cup on their first appearance after beating defending champions Kaizer Chiefs 4-2 on penalties at Free State stadium.  The Glamour Boys has won this cup seven times since it begun in 2004, where they faced Bloemfontein Celtics in many occasions.   Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic made his first appearance for Royal AM this afternoon after suffering a long injury.  Author Zwane also gave the development graduate Wandile Duba a first start for the Soweto giants upfront partnering with Keagan Dolly and Happy Mashiane. Both teams didn’t create enough goal scoring opportunities in the first half of the match. With Royal AM enjoying ball possession most part of the first half. Royal AM found the opening goal from    Ruzaigh Gamildien at the 83 minutes of the match after they beat offside trap from Chiefs. No Qatar 2022 for Bafana

  South Africa will not compete to next year world cup that’s taking place in Qatar. The defeat against Ghana at Cape Coast Sports stadium has left Bafana Bafana in a swallow pill to sour. Andre Ayew who played his 100 th match today for the Black stars has converted the soft penalty against Hugo Broos troops which became the only goal for the day. It remains to be seen whether South Africa will write a letter of complain to CAF and FIFA regarding the decision that was taken by the Senegalese born Maguette Ndiaye.  Both teams finished the group G with same number of points and goal difference, but the Ghanaians will go to the play offs after scoring more goals than Bafana Bafana in the group. The last time Bafana Bafana played in a world cup it was eleven years ago when they were hosting it for the first time in time in African soil. Hugo Broos team will now have to wait for few years before they can participate on other qualifications such as Africa Cup of Nations.
